Narawa: Illegal acts in the Ghanaian mining industry

Narawa Mining Company Limited and Narawa Company are complicating their registration in
the Ghanaian mining industry. The present management is using the old Narawa Company Ltd
documents to cover their illegal activities in Ghana, causing deaths and the destruction of lands
and forests.
They smuggle some of their gold outside Ghana through illegal means.
Presently, the Narawa management is practicing illegal mining in Nsuapemso, Osino and
Nsutem.
They claim to be a small-scale mining company, but this is not true; previous records indicate
that they are attempting to delete their history from the system.
They changed their name from Narawa Company Ltd to Narawa Mining Company Limited,
which is not officially registered in Ghana.
So who is behind the manipulation of this illegality in Narawa?
One Nana Owusu, alleged to be Okyehema’s brother in Ghana, is believed to be behind these
illegalities along with Karim, Amoda, Paul Ocran, Fred, and some undisclosed chiefs in the
eastern region of Ghana.
The current staff of Narawa use security agencies to threaten individuals and other organisations
that attempt to oppose their illegal activities in Ghana.
Recently they planned to assassinate a member of an anti-galamsey media agency in Ghana.
They pay bribes to workers from the EPA, the mineral commission and police officers when they
come to their site to inspect their irresponsible mining activities.
Almost 10 to 15 people have lost their lives on site.
It is, therefore, important to be careful when dealing with these Narawa mining companies or
Narawa Company Ltd in Ghana.
